Vega Project

This slideshow includes a CAD floorplan, and rendered perspectives and elevations.

Client: Vincent and Marcela Vega

The Challenge:The Vegas have recently moved into a California condo and have welcomed Marcela's disabled mother Romina from Dragor fishing village in Copenhagen, Denmark to live with them. Design a residence that reflects both Vincent and Marcela's taste of Mid-Century Modern design and Romina's Danish culture.

Concept: I will recreate the feel of the coastal ports in Coopenhagen by using color, form, and texture/pattern.  will use color by incorporating the traditional Denmark yellow, bright and gray blues of the ocean, and the bright rusty reds of the buildings and the dark wood of the ships in the port.

I will create the coastal feel by using dark wood floors and whitewashed walls throughout the apartment.

I will incorporate form in the rectilinear and curvilinear shapes of the mid-century modern furniture.  In the public areas incorporate asymmetrical balance and a mix of the traditional Danish design and mid century modern.

I will accomplish this by using mid-century modern furniture and traditional Danish with very visually textured and patterned fabric for accents and an area rug, with traditional dark wood floors and whitewashed walls. I will Vary ceiling heights, and incorporate tensile sails on the ceiling in the living area.
