Client: Edita Kazlauskas

The Challenge: Edita Kazlauskas has moved into the basement of her son and daughter-in-laws home, as she can no longer live on her own. Design a kitchen that is ADA accessible while combining the styles of Edita's home country of Lithuania and Mid-Century Modern design.

Concept: I will recreate the feel of Lithuania and Mid-Century Modern style by using color, shape, as well as visual texture. I will incorporate color by using a Mid-Century palette derived from Lithuanian Easter eggs. I will incorporate the curvilinear shape of the eggs as well as the smooth texture of the shell. This will be accomplished by using browns in the dark wood of the flooring, yellows, blues and greens in the backsplash tiles, orange tones in the custom cabinetry, and the mellow off-white of the visually textured granite counter.
