The Challenge: Renovate a 3,600 square foot, two-story space in a historic part of downtown Boise, Idaho. The clients plans are to open an Interior Design Studio on the first floor and use the second floor as a residence for their family. They have one boy-Austin(12), and two girls, Hallie (9), and Chloe (7).Main Living Area Concept: Inspired by the client’s eclectic and contemporary taste, this space will feature bold colors and prints with a neutral base. Sophisticated grays and blacks will be the background with bright turquoise and goldenrod yellow as accents. The contrasting textures of thebrick walls and sleek, contemporary finishes will add visual interest to the space. As there are minimal windows in the building, natural light will be utilized as much as possible. The overall look of the home will reflect a chic and minimal aesthetic, with function being the most important aspect.Austin’s BedRoom
Concept: Engineering and building are the main inspirations for Austin’s bedroom. The finishes create an industrial and modern feeling, and geometric patterns in the fabrics are also anod to the engineering industry. Sleek steel is contrasted with casual denim and bright blue, green, andorange to make the space more youthful and vibrant. A large desk functions as both a place to do homework and provides an area to build and create. This space will be one that Austin can enjoy as he grows and matures.
